Position Details:

Summary of Duties: Incumbent will be responsible designing and conducting research to identify predators of potato psyllid in non-crop habitats of central Washington. The research will involve extensive field sampling of potato psyllid and predaceous insects on non-crop host plants of potato psyllid, and the use of molecular gut content analysis to determine the presence or absence of potato psyllid DNA in the guts of predators. The position requires skills and experience with sampling insects, basic insect identification, and routine molecular techniques including extraction of nucleic acids and PCR.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum M.S. in entomology or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with insect sampling, extraction of nucleic acids, and PCR.
  • Must have or able to obtain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in entomology or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
