Must have good math and analytical skills to carry out water treatment dutiesPreferred Qualifications Five or more years applicable maintenance experience; One or more years water treatment experience; Technical school certificate in a related field; Licensed Stationary EngineerResponsibilities This position is primarily responsible for the water treatment of systems associated with Plant Operations. This includes steam systems (boiler water), condenser water used in cooling towers, and chilled/hot water closed loop systems. Responsibilities include maintaining treatment levels as prescribed by our water treatment contractor, troubleshoot and repair equipment that is used for maintaining treatment levels, and using/storing treatment chemicals and reagents in accordance with Augusta University's policies and EPA and Georgia EPD regulations. Regular working hours for this position are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime is required. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Test and add chemicals to cooling towers, boilers, chilled water and heating water systems to maintain proper levels; Replace water treatment containers as they are emptied; Maintain water treatment chemical and reagent inventory by coordinating with annual contractor
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnosis and repair of mechanical equipment and systems in the Central Energy Plant and other areas for which the Mechanical Shop is responsible; Typical equipment include boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and system for equipment and systems assigned to the Mechanical Shop
  • Attend training as required
  • Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned
