Job Description:

The Executive Director of K-12 Outreach will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth and Innovation, the Director of External Affairs, and the Dean of the Klipsch Educators College to launch a K-12 online school. The Executive Director will promote Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan Mission & Identity by serving as the founding head of school/president of the online school once fully approved and launched.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Executive Director of K-12 Outreach is a leadership position responsible for the entire planning process to open a new K-12 online school. Through these efforts, the Executive Director will lead, and be responsible for, raising the launch capital needed to open the new school, marketing the programs, and hiring the staff. The Executive Director will be the lead agent to build bridges and support from the community for the K-12 online school. The Executive Director engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.

Specifically, the Executive Director will focus on the following:

Launch online school

  • Serve as the key leader in planning and executing the strategies to open an online school.
  • Take a leadership role, with support from the Office of Institutional Advancement, in securing the startup funding of the new school.
  • Lead the strategy for gaining public support from K-12 school and district partners, community leaders, and community-based organizations.
  • Create the marketing plans necessary to maximize exposure of the new school within the community, across the state, region, and country.
  • Lead all recruiting efforts to accomplish the enrollment goals set forth in the plan.
  • Identify organizations within the community of which to serve in a board or committee member capacity (i.e., non-profits, etc.)
  • Oversee the hiring process for the new school ensuring each candidate selected is of high quality and supports the mission of Marian University.
  • Ensure that Marian University branding is included across all grade levels and involve key university personnel in the school, including dual enrollment opportunities.
  • Uphold the values of Marian University in public and private life.
  • Manage tasks as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth and Innovation.
  • Required Qualifications:

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in educational leadership, business administration, or related field is required.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Management experience may include direct supervision of employees, managing project teams and project resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, verbal and written communication skills, and experience in planning, evaluation, management, and reporting are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in fundraising and recruitment is highly desired.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and background:

  • A minimum of five years of strategic, project management or organizational assessment experience, preferably the majority in higher education or an academic setting.
  • An operational soundness with the ability to grow programs and work with people collaboratively to achieve goals.
  • An ability to work well within and across a complex organization in an academic setting and with faculty leadership, in order to support their pursuits.
  • Capability to adopt a 'high level view', and balance multiple priorities, to identify opportunities for the institution to gain efficiencies and to further advance its mission.
  • A senior level presence that inspires confidence and builds credibility with other senior level stakeholders from across various divisions of the institution.
  • A thoughtful listener, strategic thinker, strong communicator and negotiator with unquestionable integrity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in education strategic planning, assessment, and data analysis are required, (higher education is preferred).
  • Ability to work with diverse groups, cultures, and communities. .
  • Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
