Job Description:

The Staff Psychologist/Counselor is a full time (12 month) member of the Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) team of psychologists, counselors, and trainees and provides a full range of generalist counseling services. Working closely with the Director of Counseling and Consultation Services the staff psychologist/counselor promotes Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by delivering integrated mental healthcare to Marian University’s diverse undergraduate, graduate and professional students to support students in reaching their personal and academic goals.

CCS is a dynamic unit within the Division of Student Success and Engagement at Marian University and is highly utilized by students as well as other campus partners seeking consultations. The CCS staff are a cohesive and collegial group of professionals who are passionate about working with students, and seek to provide a safe, welcoming and affirming environment to all. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.

Direct Services:

Provides individual and group therapy specific to personal, academic, and career issues.Participates in the provision of mental health triage servicesProvides emergency and crisis intervention servicesProvides consultation and resources to faculty, staff, students and parents Provides outreach and mental wellness programming for campus communityShares on call responsibility with other counseling staffProvides supervision to trainees

Activities related to direct service:

Follows centers policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPAMaintains confidentiality according to the professional and ethical guidelines of the American Psychological AssociationRemains updated on research and best practices related to mental health topics and counseling in higher educationPursues professional development through professional organizations and conferencesAttends and presents in regular case conference staffingServes on internal and external committees as requested by Director of Counseling Center Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in programs, and services.Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Counseling Services

This position can be filled by a psychologist, counselor or social workerFor psychologists: Doctoral degree (PhD/PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from APA accredited program and APA accredited internship For counselors and social workers: Masters degree (LMHC/LCSW) in social work or clinical/counseling psychology, completed internship, and 3 years clinical experience post-degreeLicensed or licensed eligible in state of IndianaDemonstrated successful experience in provision of counseling services to an older adolescent and adult population is required. University Counseling Center experience preferred but not required.Demonstrated commitment to cultural competence and demonstrated successful experience in provision of psychological services to underrepresented and marginalized groupsStrong case formulation, assessment and treatment skills, including the ability to work with a diversity of clients, clinical issues and levels of impairment.Knowledge of developmental trends and concerns of undergraduates, graduate and professional students.Outstanding oral and written communication skills, able to dialogue effectively with a wide range of students, faculty and staffDemonstrated ability to collaborate collegially with a multidisciplinary staff, both within Counseling and Consultation Services and throughout the University community Ongoing pursuit of self-knowledge and understanding of own personal factors affecting clinical workDedication to protecting confidentiality and meeting all ethical standards associated with the practice of psychology within a university counseling center context including experience in management of client data and compliance with all HIPAA and FERPA requirements
