General Description of the Job Class

Provide direction, analysis and coordination of compliance training program to include regulatory, administrative and operational components, such as system wide compliance training departmental and Compliance update presentations and publications. Creates awareness communications. Oversees educational activities and compliance communications consistent with the standards of practice in delivery of care and services in the assigned department.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Responsible for the development, coordination and deployment of educational programs to improve workforce comprehension of Compliance Program operations, compliance issues/regulatory guidance, and compliance policies and procedures. Training to include Compliance, Privacy and IT Security, Coding and Medicare Conditions of Participation. Report on training metrics to Compliance Committees. Coordinate Compliance Office presentations to the committees; develop presentation materials.

Prepare newsletters, articles, FAQs, and other publications describing the Compliance program, and activities; collect and develop written content, revise and edit content, and coordinate distribution. Assist staff in developing presentation materials using tools such as Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat. Maintain mandatory orientation, annual compliance update, and HIPAA privacy training modules, including overseeing course development and content revisions tailored to specific disciplines and role-based functions. Collaborate with compliance and operational staff to identify and address training/educational needs. Routinely run reports on compliance training statistics. Formulate and compile training/resources and other training aids. Develop, manage, revise and update training materials including videos, Compliance web site, and interactive on-line modules. Administer and troubleshoot course enrollment issues in the Learning Management System (LMS).

Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding educational needs and offerings. Maintain a departmental educational documentation system consistent with regulatory and hospital standards. Build collaborative relationships with assigned customer groups. Demonstrate effective communication, problem identification, problem solving and priority setting skills.

Serve and actively participate on assigned committees, both unit and facility specific education. Participate in the development of education and unit policies and procedure as appropriate. Assist in assuring compliance with the requirements of regulatory agencies.

Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein and as assigned by Manager. Evaluate and measure effectiveness of compliance training programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education are required in a related field.

Experience 5 years of experience with adult education, designing and delivering training curriculum, preferably related to Compliance program. Experience with learning management systems and course authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate or similar tools. Strong communications. Expert level experience with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Experience managing content for websites using SharePoint is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Effective written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to collaborate with others to gain knowledge required to create training and presentation materials.

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires the ability to plan and administer programs and direct program activities within a specific functional area, generally acquired through four years of related experience.

Duke University was created in 1924 by James Buchanan Duke as a memorial to his father, Washington Duke. The Dukes, a Durham family that built a worldwide financial empire in the manufacture of tobacco products and developed electricity production in the Carolinas, long had been interested in Trinity College. Trinity traced its roots to 1838 in nearby Randolph County when local Methodist and Quaker communities opened Union Institute. The school, then named Trinity College, moved to Durham in 1892, where Benjamin Newton Duke served as a primary benefactor and link with the Duke family until his death in 1929. In December 1924, the provisions of indenture by Benjamin’s brother, James B. Both men and women undergraduates now enroll in either the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences or the Pratt School of Engineering. In 1995, East Campus became the home for all first-year students.
