Visiting Professor in Spanish

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Modern Language and Literature Division of Indiana Wesleyan University seeks a creative and engaging Spanish teacher-scholar, who is dedicated to the ideals of liberal learning and an educational philosophy based on the centrality of Jesus Christ and the integration of faith and learning in language instruction.

At Indiana Wesleyan University, a visiting professor is the designation used for individuals appointed to the faculty on a temporary basis. Visiting professors are not eligible for promotion but do receive health benefits during the length of their employment. A visiting professor is eligible to re-apply for the position should it subsequently become a permanently funded position. Successfulcandidates will show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, comfort withthe Wesleyan theological perspective, and be committed to the integration of Christianfaith in teaching and practice. Applicants who bring diverse ethnic, racial,and gender perspectives to their scholarship and teaching are especiallyencouraged to apply.

The position is for the 2021-2022 academic year, beginning July 1, 2021 pending funding.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will have a master's degree, be fluent in Spanish, and a minor or concentration in Spanish or Linguistics/Language Acquisition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This visiting faculty member will engage in teaching and mentoring Spanish majors/minors and Spanish Education majors/minors on the residential Marion campus. The successful candidate should expect to be involved in the activities of La Amistad Hispanica, the Spanish club, and Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish Honors Society. The successful candidate may have an opportunity to be the faculty of record for a Spanish travel course. The successful candidate should expect torender service at the program and divisional levels.
