Position Summary:

The Innovation Program Manager will be housed in the School of Social Work’s Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab (SIEL) and work in a matrix environment to manage and implement social innovations associated with the School’s Cares program for older adults and adults with disabilities and social innovations associated with the Lab’s Community Aspirations Hub and Carolina Catalyst start-ups. The manager will design and innovate multiple project efforts by creating and updating existing workforce training curricula for those who serve and benefit high risk populations, particularly low-income older adults, adults with disabilities and persons of color who are at risk of great harm in the current COVID-19 environment. As the lead in a team management matrix, the manager will manage two new Cares initiatives involving first, the design and implementation of a statewide competency-based workforce; and second, a statewide program called Money Follows the Person (MFP). The manager will also serve as the lead for program innovation development for the Lab’s Community Aspirations Hub as it fosters the multidimensional well-being of families and Carolina Catalyst, a consulting group, which responds to requests for evidence informed and promising practices and social innovations to address pressing community problems across the state. In managing these two relatively new start-ups, the Innovation Program Manager will work at the direction of Dr. Gary Nelson in collaboration with Linda Kendall Fields, the Cares Program Director and other School service engagement partners.

Educational Requirements:

Candidates must possess a master’s degree in social work or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience post MSW in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social innovations in the community.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential
Two-years of experience in social innovation methods related to the design, operation planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Demonstrated skills in the planning, design, and implement program operational protocols and timelines associated with the implementation of social innovations. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage with demonstrated independence and initiative, the design of social innovations in a team and matrix management environment. Skills in the use of various social media platforms and technologies to foster the design, implementation and management of social innovations and programs. Experience in research and data methods that advance program goals and purposes.

Preferred
Knowledge and skills in business design, planning, operations, monitoring, and evaluation adapted to social innovations.

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers.
