The UNC School of Social Work is a graduate school offering Master of Social Work (MSW) and doctoral (PhD) degrees; four dual-degree and various certificate and professional credentialing programs; as well as continuing education, training and consultation.

The Administrative Research Manager (Business Officer) administers and manages the business and financial affairs of sponsored research (grants and contracts) related activities within the School of Social Work.
Functions assigned to the role include financial management, personnel administration/management, payroll, project management, facilities coordination/planning, and closely related work. Responsibilities include facilitation and management of financial resources that may be state appropriated, contracts and grants, and/or receipt generated. The Administrative Research Manager performs a range of financial and business-related duties associated with specialized areas such as accounting, budgeting, auditing, project management, and/or grants administration.
The Administrative Research Manager performs and has oversight of accounts reconciliation, maintenance and reporting of financial data, financial projections, cash/receipts management, and personnel planning. The Administrative Research Manager has responsibility for accounting/business standards and practices, policy interpretation/implementation, the organization of work, and the supervision of others.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
The selected candidate will be able to organize, prioritize and work under deadline pressure. The candidate must be team oriented with strong oral and written communication skills with a focus on excellent customer service.
Strong computer skills, including all Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, and familiarity with Adobe PDF documents is required. The candidate must have sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals and excellent analytical skills. This position requires extreme attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to implement response to a situation based on interpretation of applicable policies and regulations; Ability to troubleshoot and provide guidance to other team members.

Completion of the Tar Heel Certification in Research Administration preferred.
