Position Summary:

This position is on site at our Cullowhee campus.

The Associate Director of Residence Life for Academic Partnerships is a member of the central management team, supporting the academic mission of the department, division and the university. This position incorporates the academic mission of the university into the residential experience; supervises three (3) Residential Case Managers; provides departmental leadership with residential living-learning communities, departmental retention efforts, other student success initiatives, and departmental committees; serves as a consultant and resource to department staff in the areas of academic integration in the residence halls; and provides direction and training to the department for working with at-risk students. This is a live-on position. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Residence Life.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Education, Human Services, Higher Education in Student Affairs or related field.
• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience coordinating student learning activities in a higher education environment.
• Understanding of student retention issues, programs, policies, etc.
• Outstanding organizational, planning, communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience integrating academics into a living and learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience enhancing students’ academic achievement through teaching classes or working with academic enhancement programs, living-learning communities and faculty strongly preferred.
• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years professional live-in experience managing a residence hall.
• Experience at an Assistant Director level or above.
• Experience supervising undergraduate and/or graduate level student staff.
• Experience responding to crisis and emergency situations in a residential setting.
