The Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) at Georgetown's McCourt School of Public Policy is a non-academic program established to better connect students with the political process and empower them to make it work better. Driven by a belief that better understanding can lead to more civil and productive politics, GU Politics offers a series of programs focused on practical and applied politics that offers students opportunities to directly engage with leading members of the political, governmental, journalism and advocacy communities; explore ideas to improve the process; and work to put some of those ideas into practice.

The Director of Programming for the Institute of Politics and Public Service works closely with the Executive Director and Chief of Staff to develop and execute a strategy for all Institute programs. • Driving the direction of career programming, including workshops, trainings, and networking opportunities that allow Georgetown students to explore the various career paths in politics and public service that are available to them—and leveraging his/her network to recruit speakers
  • Building out issue-specific programming, such as political media, international and local politics, women in politics, and polling

External Outreach & Partnership Development
  • Inviting high-level guests - e.g., speakers, fellows - as a senior representative of the institute
  • Serving as the primary leader of our on-campus partnerships, identifying opportunities for collaboration across all of our programming
  • Collaborating with the Chief of Staff to identify sponsorship opportunities for programming
  • Identifying external partnership opportunities to elevate the institute's presence in the DC and wider political communities
  • Broadening the institute's reach by building relationships with new audiences

Operations
  • Managing Assistant Director(s) of Programming to ensure that all programming goals are met
  • Overseeing implementation of student engagement plan

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in government, political campaigns, political journalism or a related field.
  • Understanding of modern political campaigning and government
