Salary: $5,692 - $14,925 monthly

Position Description:
UCLA Strategic Communications increases awareness, understanding and support of UCLA's vision, mission, and accomplishments among its many constituencies. A major focus of this department is the formulation and implementation of strategic communications initiatives, plans and events.

Reporting to the Director of Executive Communications, the Associate Director of Internal Communications helps strategically evaluate, manage, and improve UCLA's internal communications infrastructure and output, with a focus on but not limited to communications from the Chancellor and other senior executive leaders. The Associate Director of Internal Communications also works closely with the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Communications to support internal messaging to communications colleagues in Strategic Communications and across campus.

This position requires holistic, proactive and creative thinking about the range of work performed across UCLA and how leaders can communicate in effective ways to diverse groups of staff, students, and faculty to achieve strategic goals. This position also requires understanding of the issues faced by a large and distributed communications function, and experience advising and producing written content and other communications for an executive.

As the campus's internal communications lead, the Associate Director of Internal Communications helps to create and develop an overarching strategic framework and communication plan that effectively and creatively conveys the depth of the UCLA brand and leaders' vision and objectives to constituents. Duties also include editing and coordinating message distribution in collaboration with StratComm colleagues and other campus leaders, tracking open rates and monitoring other metrics to determine the optimal strategy for effectively reaching members of the campus community, evaluating and rolling out new internal communications tools to better serve communications needs, and developing feedback systems. Familiarity with internal communications best practices within a complex organization, modern tools and approaches, and surveying and other engagement tools is preferred.
