Contract and Grants Analyst 3 Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 22847086 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $55,000 - $108,500 Position Information Under the general supervision of the Contracts and Grants Manager administer and coordinate complex fiscal budgeting and administration in order to maintain fiscal integrity and internal controls. Perform high level budget/resource analyses and assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports for principal investigators (PI) and administration, utilizing robust analytical tools. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to pre- and post-award grant administration. Maintain strong internal controls. Respond to changing needs for financial reports and ad hoc information for Principal Investigators, Chairperson, and administration. Prepare multi-year budgets and coordinate submission of contract and grant proposals for multiple agencies. Additionally provides policy interpretation, critical analyses, and administrative support for all aspects of temporary academic personnel administration. Responsible for audit and oversight of departmental Contract and Grant funds and working with departments to resolve issues. Working with departmental personnel may include training PI's and administrators on C&G responsibilities, accounting issues, best practices, sponsor requirements, and all UCR rules and regulations Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Experience Experience Requirement 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Minimum Requirements Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Ability to work with various and diverse groups of people and lead them to reach a common goal. Heavily customer service oriented tasks with focus on training those diverse groups.
Acts as the Lead Analyst for CHASS grant proposals involving multiple PI's, department, and/or other UCR colleges.
Ability to independently audit departmental funds for oversight and training purposes. Forensic analysis of departmental contacts and grants and the ability to articulate and model the analysis and resolutions of problems to departmental personnel.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
