DIRECTOR OF THE OLIVE KETTERING LIBRARY

Antioch College is seeking applications for the position of Director of the Olive Kettering Library to begin July 1, 2021.

The Director of Olive Kettering Library will have overall responsibility for strategic planning, annual planning, annual budget, and managing daily operations.  They will serve on college-wide committees (e.g. Academic Affairs Administrative Team).  They are a member of the faculty without tenure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES) OF THE POSITION:

  • Oversee staffing, collection development, services and programs, and facilities;
  • Oversee, and when necessary, execute the operations of the OK Library;
  • Participate in appropriate collaborations with OPAL, OhioLINK, SOCHE and other consortiums;
  • Prepare and provide oversight to annual budget in collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs;
  • Oversee the Olive Kettering Library facility which houses the library collections and services, information services, and Antiochiana (Special Collections);
  • Supervise staff and student employees (develop position descriptions, hire, conduct regular reviews), and, working with Human Resources, develop and maintain personnel practices appropriate to the library;
  • Define and support the short and long term technology needs and strategies of the Library, and as appropriate, as a partner in institutional planning processes;
  • Provide maintenance and decision-making around collection and information resources.

 

 

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in librarianship, information science, or related field required.  An ALA-accredited degree is preferred.  The successful candidate will also have a thorough knowledge of the academic enterprise and a commitment to a liberal arts education with at least five years’ experience with a strong record of progressively-responsible leadership, with managerial, supervisory, and budgetary experience.
