The Enrollment Division at the University of Denver works to attract and enroll an optimal mix of qualified students that will enrich the composition of our learning community. Position Summary
The Admission Counselor or Assistant Director of Admission manages all recruiting aspects of an assigned territory both locally and nationally (including extensive travel in the fall and spring) and is responsible for building strong relationships with students, parents, school counselors & community-based organizations. Admission Counselors or Assistant Directors review applications and determine whether an applicant is academically prepared to succeed at DU (based on assessment of the students curriculum, grades, test scores, essay, recommendations, activities, etc.). Along with the entire Enrollment Division, Admission Counselors or Assistant Directors share responsibility to attract excellent students by being sensitive to, and having an understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds of students. Within our admission counseling staff, we have a strong career promotion structure: Admission Counselors are considered for promotion to Assistant Director after two to three years of service, Assistant Directors are considered for promotion to Associate Directors after an additional two to three years of service.

We have a position available to hire at the Admission Counselor or Assistant Director level depending on the ideal candidates experience. In addition to the recruiting duties listed above, Admission Counselors or Assistant Directors will also serve on a specific committee or team within our office: Visit; Diversity and College Access; Transfer; or Communication. This position seeks candidates who bring experience, skill and passion to specifically serve on our Diversity & Access Team (DAT) and reports to the Director of Diversity Enrollment and Community Partnerships. The Admission Counselor/Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight for our 30+ partnership groups including, but not limited to, Daniels Fund, Volunteers in Partnership, and Denver Scholarship Fund. The Admission Counselor/Assistant Director will also help to organize, implement, and lead our Summer College Access program(s) for Pioneer Prep Leadership Institute.

Required Qualifications
Admission Counselor

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working or volunteering in admission, recruiting, college access, advising, sales or marketing, ideally in a higher education setting (may include student employment).
  • Valid driver's license.

Assistant Director

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-3 years of professional work experience related to admission, recruiting, college access, student advising, sales or marketing, ideally in a higher education or a college access setting.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
Admission Counselor

  • 1-2 years of work experience related to admission, recruiting, college access, advising, sales or marketing, ideally in a higher education setting (may include student employment).
  • Relationship management experience.
  • Experience and success working with traditionally underrepresented populations through the college access and/or admission process.
  • Proficiency or fluency in Spanish.

Assistant Director

  • Experience and success leading programming for traditionally underrepresented populations of students and/or parents through the college access and/or admission process.
  • Extensive understanding of inclusion, demographics, educational equity & intersectional identity considerations within the college admission landscape.
  • Proficiency or fluency in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with Slate Technolutions and experience developing communications for diverse markets.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 6.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
