Job Summary:

With the assistance and under the guidance of the Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director of Donor Relations is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance and oversight of Loyola’s stewardship and recognition efforts. This position is critical to the success of Advancement efforts, in building relationships with alumni and other donors, tracking Donor Relations activities, and measuring impact of such work. The position will interact with all Advancement departments and individuals in Financial Aid, Finance, Marketing, and other areas in implementing stewardship efforts for all major donors and prospects to Loyola University Chicago.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plans and implements reporting, correspondence, and other efforts to show the University’s donors the impact of their giving.
2. Drafts and coordinates production of personalized gift acknowledgments from the President and other members of University leadership.
3. Works with Director of Donor Relations to establish and adhere to timeline for all stewardship projects, efforts and events.
4. Tracks relevant data within existing Advancement and scholarship systems, including information on scholarship recipients and donors.
5. Implements standard reporting tools and vehicles to communicate with donors on the use of their funds, as well as the funds’ impact on the Loyola community and beyond. This includes high-level involvement with producing annual endowment reports to donors.
6. Builds strong and effective relationships with individuals and departments throughout the Loyola community that provide or benefit from information used in stewardship efforts (e.g., Finance, faculty, Financial Aid, Communications, and Advancement).
7. Edits and coordinates quarterly mailings of thank-you letters from student scholarship recipients to donors.
8. Assists with and participates in the planning and execution of Donor Relations annual and periodic special events, including the annual University Scholarship Mass & Brunch.
9. Assists with the management and stewardship of giving societies and other major and principal gift donors.
10. Tracks named spaces on university campuses within the established framework and carries out annual updates of donor walls and procure plaques and other permanent donor recognition.
11. Collaborates with Directors of Development and other prospect managers to develop stewardship plans for the University’s major gift donors.
12. Involved in production of customized, compelling proposals and reports for high-level prospects covering a wide range of university initiatives in collaboration with gift officers and other key staff.
13. Performs other related duties and special projects as required.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree supplemented with more than three years’ experience working in a fundraising or non-profit environment required with a significant amount of time spent directing and developing stewardship activities strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience in donor relations, relationship management or communications. Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications:

- Excellent writing skills required. Writing test and writing samples will be required.
- Demonstrated superior collaborative skills among a variety of personalities essential.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations to internal groups and external individuals. Excellent interpersonal and
customer/donor relations skills.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations a plus.
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
- May supervise student workers working on Donor Relations projects. May have some oversight for projects being completed by Assistant Director of Donor Relations.

Computer Skills:

- Demonstrated knowledge of advanced computer systems, especially database management.
- Experience with Advance a plus. Required proficiency in information management and “poweruser” knowledge of standard Windows and Microsoft applications such as Excel and Access.
