Job Summary:

Conducts instruction on a variety of workforce topics to assist both job seekers and business customers in their attainment of workforce training to meet industry needs. Develops and prepares course materials and outlines, instructional procedures, study materials and handouts. Creates curriculum and materials to provide contextualized instruction to meet these needs or identifies sources for such material and works to secure it.

Positions are available in multiple teaching areas including: English, Foreign Language, Math, Science; Art, Audio Visual Technology, Business, Dance, Debate, Graphic Arts, Music, Physical Education, Theater Arts, Coding, Robotics, and any STEM related classes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules (morning, afternoon, evening, and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs and external stakeholders’ expectations of College as assigned by designated supervisor
• Demonstrates a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population, colleagues and service area
• Prepares and delivers instruction to students
• Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
• Delivers competency-based training in traditional and hybrid modalities
• Maintains student attendance records
• Evaluates student performance and learning
• Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as business locations
• Serves as a community resource person and represents the college to outside groups when requested
• Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
• Advises students on careers based on assessments and makes appropriate referrals to college training programs
• Provides timely, quality access to students through electronic communication, or other appropriate method
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher*
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Experience with computerized systems
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software

*Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures:

• Teaching certification
• Teaching experience at the high school level

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly a strong ability to communicate with individuals from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff and community partners

Special Instructions Summary:

Instructors are needed for the Upward Bound Summer Program. Upward Bound is a pre-college program, which is designed to generate the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of post-secondary education.

This is a six-week component. Instructors must be available to teach Monday-Thursday, June 28-July 30, 2021.
