Job Description

The Department of Social Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2021. Candidates with experience and/or interest in innovative approaches to teaching first-year government courses for ‘at-risk’ students are preferred. The successful candidate will teach introductory government courses, in conjunction with supplemental instruction and learning community staff, and participate in professional development and assessment. The base teaching load for this position at A&M-SA is 4/4. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

Required Education and Experience:

• An M.A. or Ph.D. by the time of appointment in Political Science or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.

• Demonstrated specialization in Political Science or a related sub-field.

• A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Political Science.

• University teaching experience with first-year government courses.

In a letter of interest which explains your teaching philosophy and experience, please also speak to the following topics:

• Experience and/or interest in student success.

• Experience with innovative modes of instruction.

• Commitment to working with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community members.
