Job Description:

The University of Texas Permian Basin invites applications for adjunct faculty members in Geology. Growth in demand for undergraduate courses has created the following opportunity for part-time instructors on a per class basis.

PLEASE NOTE: Classes in Fall 2020 and possibly thereafter may be in a distance/on-line environment. Candidates may assume that detailed templates for on-line courses will be provided by the Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach introductory undergraduate level Physical Geology course(s)
• Grade student work/exams and keep students apprised of their progress in each course
• Hold office hours/meet with students by appointment, as requested and needed; respond to student inquiries by e-mail
• Other duties, as assigned by the Chair

Required Qualifications:

• A Master’s or Doctorate in Geology or in a related field with at least 18 graduate-level hours in Geology
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skill levels
• Ability to use technology in teaching
• Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student centered methods of instruction
• Ability to work in a multiethnic/multicultural environment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evening assignments – daytime availability a plus (in some cases, may be required)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience at the college/university level
