Job Details
This position will oversee financial administration from award setup through award closeout including expenditure oversight; preparation and submission of financial reports and reimbursement requests; implementing payroll confirmation; monitoring cost share and other financial requirements; and reconciliation and closeout of grant and contract accounts. Supervises two team members, cultivating an ethic of customer service to the campus community and effective management of sponsored program accounts. Has a broad understanding of sponsor requirements and regulations and effectively communicates with faculty, OSPR colleagues, the TU community, sponsors, and auditors. Oversees approval of reimbursement requests, preparation and submission of financial reports including cost share reporting, grant and contract close out, billing and processing of journal entry transactions. Reviews and approves team member work; ensures appropriate separation of duties; responds to complex financial questions from staff and constituents. Remains abreast of federal and sponsored financial requirements to ensure continued financial compliance. Collaborates with OSPR colleagues to facilitate a smooth transition from pre- to post-award activities and to promote a culture of compliance. Streamlines processes to cultivate best practices and a high level of customer service, communicating them to the campus community. Effectively manages the use of TU systems including participating in the implementation of a new grants module, and managing Kuali so as to maximize efficiency, reporting capability and analysis to support unit and university goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Three to five year background in grant and contract accounting.
- Understanding of the Uniform Guidance and federal and sponsor financial requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, including an ability to translate accounting and regulatory terminology to campus constituents and to serve as a mentor to staff.
- Strong customer service orientation, with an eye to reducing administrative burden to the research community through the conduct of office functions.
- Ability to work well with all constituencies.
- Understanding and past experience with software and financial systems common to post-award grant management.
- Past experience working with faculty members or researchers, preferably in a higher education setting.Past supervisory/team lead experience.Experience with Kuali Research, Oracle Cloud, and/or PeopleSoft a plus.
