Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Naples have an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Manager. The Nursing Manager promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multi-disciplinary professional staffs, and providing physical and psychological support for patients and their friends and families. This employee enforces professional staff behaviors that facilitate positive relationships among colleagues, physicians, administrators, and other hospital personnel. Oversees patient flow through designated clinical areas. Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements, and to other governing agency regulations, and measuring health outcomes against standards. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.

Completes patient care requirements by assigning nursing and staff. Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.

Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support patients and their friends and families. Promotes patients’ independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching and counseling patients, and reinforcing patients’ understanding of disease, medications, and self-care. Works with the administrator and nurse director in establishing policies and procedures as recommended by accrediting bodies. Reviews practices for compliance to established policies and issues written reports on a periodic basis. Performs facility assessments annually, utilizing infection control audit sheets, and follows this with a written report, including recommendations. Consults with the facility administrator and nurse director in the assessment, analysis and resolution of all reported infections. Identify and monitor specified nosocomial infections, performs targeted surveillance, outbreak Participates in performance improvement projects related in communicable diseases and emerging pathogens within the facility. Collects, monitors, and maintains records and data pertinent to surveillance, via computer support (utilizing Center for Disease Control (CDC) infection criteria, documentation and investigation techniques.). Reports surveillance, investigations, and projects as defined above to appropriate committees, administrative staff, and supervisors/managers. Makes rounds of ASC and Clinic for the purpose of case definition, monitoring of infection control practices, and other related patient care issues. Meets regularly with the Director of Infection Control regarding all relevant problems in the ASC and clinic. Understand the transmission of infections and assists in the reduction of risk among patients, facility staff, and visitors. Identify and report communicable diseases as required by the state and the local health

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing:

Registered Nurse Licensure (RN), BLS, ACLS, PALS

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience. Two (2) years of experience in the specialty of infection control or hold a degree in a related field such as microbiology or epidemiology.
