Scope of Job:
To provide support in the coordination of all phases and activities of the Texas Alzheimer's Research and Care Consortium (TARCC) research project. Responsible for the collection and analysis of data in preparation for publishing research findings of all projects and programs.


Description of Duties:
• Coordinates research and data collection procedures.

• Summarizes and interprets research findings.

• Performs quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

• Develops and edits manuscripts for publication.

• Develops surveys and instruments for data collection.

• Supervises data entry operation and procedures.

• Generates and distributes reports for the project and/or program.

• Identifies and pursues grant opportunities by drafting proposals and applications.

• May prepare and conduct presentations with respect to the program and/or project’s research findings.

• Organize all of the community engagement activities related to this project.

• May perform other duties as assigned


Supervision Received:
General direction from the assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
General supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University.

Preferred Education:
Master’s degree or ongoing progress towards completion of a Master’s degree.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
• Three (3) years experience in data collection, program evaluation, assessment and research, educational research, including report and/or manuscript writing, or
• One (1) year of the required experience with a Masters Degree.

Equipment:
Use of standard office machines. Must be proficient in software used for quantitative and qualitative data analysis.


Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Usual office environment. Some evening and/or weekend work. Occasional travel may be required.


Other:
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and procedures

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with presentational and interpersonal skills

• Effective organizational skills strongly desired

A New University with a Long History

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

 

Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

 

UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
