Merced College is a midsized community college located in California's Central Valley. Founded in 1962, the college serves more than 16,000 students, with room to expand on its 267-acre main campus and 120-acre Los Banos site, as well as at our innovative Business Resource Center in Downtown Merced. As a member of the Information Technology Services Department, the business applications analyst supports the college community's ERP system and related applications. The incumbent will work with end-users from various campus departments along with ITS colleagues.     General Description:
    The Business Applications Analyst provides functional and technical support to end-users and acts as a liaison between department leads and ITS technical and development teams. Job requirements may include compiling specifications for end-user requests, creating custom reports, and researching problems related to the district-wide enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and related applications with which they interface.

    Examples of Duties
    Essential Functions:

  • Represent end-user interests and issues with Information Technology Services
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with end-users
  • Attend and participate in end-user group meetings and relevant conferences
  • Maintain consistent level of end-user satisfaction through service and/or training
  • Create and modify complex SQL reports
  • Create documentation and train others in reporting system access and report creation
  • Coordinate development and enhancements related to enterprise application systems
  • Coordinate technology integration for ongoing positive attendance tracking and reporting
  • Train end-users in the operation and use of new or modified systems or procedures of the ERP system and/or other related applications
  • Act as a liaison between vendors, technical staff, and application end-users
  • Review systems operations and help to resolve problems
  • Participate in district-provided in-service training programs
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of:
  • Integrated computing systems common in higher education
  • Project management
  • Business Intelligence (BI) systems and technologies used to gain insights from data
  • Structured Query Language (SQL), MS Excel, and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services

  • Ability to:
  • Interact with others using tact, patience, courtesy and effective listening skills
  • Effectively function in a setting with tight deadlines and a heavy workload
  • Analyze data and situations, reason logically, draw valid conclusions and develop effective solutions to system problems

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students


  • Typical Qualifications
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:
    • Associate's degree AND at least one year of applicable experience OR
    • High School diploma OR GED AND four (4) years applicable experience OR
    • The equivalent education and experience
    • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
    Desired:
    • Including enterprise business management systems (SIS, ERP, etc.)

    Interview Information:
    Those applicants deemed highly qualified for the position will be invited to appear for oral interviews before a screening committee. A limited number of candidates will be invited to interviews. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the first interview will be scheduled via Zoom. The second/final interview may be scheduled onsite. Applicants are required to ensure access to the necessary technology to participate in a Zoom interview and will be responsible for their travel expenses, if necessary.
