  • Position Description:

    The individual selected for this position will be assigned to a Toledo-area high school to serve as the Athletic Trainer for that school.  In that capacity, they will work with the coaching staff of the school to provide athletic training services to athletes in the school’s interscholastic athletic program.  This will include attending practices and games to provide immediate care to injured athletes, working with the coaches to develop conditioning and athletic injury prevention programs, serving as the liaison with the team physicians and therapists in the treatment of injured athletes, attending and participating in in-service sports medicine training and related meetings as required by The University of Toledo Medical Center.

    Qualifications:

    Education/experience/licensing:

    ·        Bachelor’s degree in sports medicine, athletic training or equivalent

    ·        Demonstrated knowledge on the financial components of sports medicine reporting systems

    ·        Licensed Athletic Training in OH and Michigan (preferred)

    ·        Obtains/maintains CPR certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

     

    Communication and other skills:

    ·        Functional in Excel, Power Point and Word

    ·        Comfortable speaking to large and/or potentially intimidating groups to include but not limited to boards of trustee or boards of education

    ·        Interpret and present financial data in order to deduce program financial stability.

    ·        Interact with all coaches and administrators as appropriate for contract development

     

    Working Conditions:•Highly demanding workload and scheduling, must be able to work in a variety of settings including, offsite locations, clinics and other •Weekend hours, Saturday and Sunday mornings•Evening event coverage as needed•Highly challenging work schedule with spontaneous adjustments in start/completion times•Must be able to work outside in any condition where an athletic contest is played
