The Assistant Professor of Health Science in the concentration of Exercise Science assumes responsibility for the classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction as well as teaching, advising, scholarship, and service requirements within the BS in Health Sciences program. This is a 10-month academic year position with a tenure-track appointment.

Essential Duties:

Applicants should exhibit the ability and desire to teach a range of courses in the Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree with concentrations in Exercise Science, and potentially in some Health Promotion courses. Potential courses to teach may include but are not limited to: Theory/Techniques of Strength and Conditioning, Functional Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics of Human Movement, Chronic Disease Rehabilitation, Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Wellness Methods and Strategies, Exercise Programming/Assessment, and Exercise & Wellness Facilities Management.
Additional duties include:
•Use student-centered, active learning teaching strategies.
•Help identify and establish internship sites, and supervise students during interships.
•Hold regular office hours.
•Participate in advising pre-HS students as well as those in the program.
•Participate in Service-Learning and scholarship activities.
•Participate in program assessment.
•Maintain the Exercise Science lab (perform an inventory of supplies; arrange for any necessary maintenance of equipment; determine any new equipment needed)
•Serve on college and school committees.

Minimum Qualifications and Training:

•Earned Doctorate Degree in Exercise Sciences or related discipline.
•Certification as CSCS and/or ACSM EP-C (CSCS required upon hire; ACSM recommended)
•Focused on student success
•Excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to interact respectfully and effectively with staff/faculty and diverse groups of students.

Preferred Qualifications and Training:

•Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, student-centered learning/teaching methods, and assessment.
•Ability to integrate appropriate technology and software in teaching.
