Men's Cross Country Head Coach (Contractual/Part-time)

Reports To and Evaluated by:

Athletic Director

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Baccalaureate Degree. Prior experience as a college or high school runner and/or coach. Possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License and good driving record. All coaches must be certified in CPR/AED and their certification must be on file in the Athletic Department.

Must be able to demonstrate the Morton College core values of compassion, fairness, respect, responsibility, tolerance and truth.

Preferred Qualifications:

Four years of running experience at the college level. Two years of cross country or track coaching experience at the college or high school level. Master’s Degree preferred. Ability and commitment to recruit, instruct, and motivate college student-athletes. Positive role model for young adults. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and leadership skills.

Job Summary:

Plan, organize and direct a program to recruit student-athletes to participate in Cross Country. Perform on field coaching and instruction. Other duties include scouting, maintaining statistics and performing tasks required to insure a competitive intercollegiate Cross Country Program.

Specific Job Duties:

•Recruit student-athletes.
•Provide instruction and teaching.
•Maintain team and individual statistics.
•Assist with the maintenance of the equipment.
•Provide a safe program to train runners according to their ability and skill level.
•Emphasize proper running techniques and discuss the psychology of the sport.
•Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
