TITLE:  Bradford Hall Technician                                                                                                            

DEPARTMENT:  Division of Humanities and Performing Arts                                    

REPORTS TO:  Interim Chair, Division of Humanities and Performing Arts

EFFECTIVE DATE:  TBD

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Full-time       

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION:  Non-exempt                         

                             

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

Provides technical set-up and operation of sound and lighting equipment for scheduled performances held in Bradford Hall.  Oversees the facility and meets with the public, staff, and students to assure that all needs are met for scheduled events.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Runs sound and lighting equipment during events.
  • Assures that the facility is clean, accessible, and safe.
  • Orders sound and lighting equipment as needed for performances.
  • Coordinates repairs equipment as required.
  • Provided PA system for Bradford Hall Events.
  • Loads and unloads equipment.
  • Keep inventory records of all equipment within both halls, etc.
  • Works alongside IT, interns, or student assistants in the production of events depending on size and magnitude.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as required.
  • Responsible for security and inventory control during scheduled events.
  • Friendly, cooperative, and a willingness to work with and share responsibilities with artistic persons and diversified student groups.

    OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma; 1-3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  

       

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of operational, facility, equipment, and resource requirements associated with special events.
  • Ability to problem-solve, make immediate decisions, and provide leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of staging techniques, materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, and resolve customer complaints and concerns. 
  •  

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

     

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Set-up and AV technical work for one (1) and (1) small auditorium in Bradford Hall.  Work normally performed in an office or theatre environment.

    Seating:

  • Large Auditorium, Carl Smith (Big Bradford) seats 900 persons.
  • Small Auditorium, Little Bradford seats 115 persons.
  • Stage Dimensions:

  • Big Bradford is an overall 43 ft. X 113 ft. with a proscenium arch at 48 ft. wide.
  • Little Bradford is overall is 29 ft. X 81 ft. with a proscenium arch at 28 ft. wide.
  • Considerable physical activity.  Requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 70 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

    Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, with require following basic safety precautions.

    Evening or weekend work required.
