Description
The College of Business (COB) Marketing and Communications Coordinator, an entry-level position, assists and implements marketing and communication initiatives for the COB, including special grant initiatives for the Colorado Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program (C-CAP), the National Security Agency Faculty Development Program (NSA-FacDev), and the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at the UCCS College of Business. This position reports to the College of Business Marketing and Communications Program Manager and will be responsible for coordinating with offices within the College to support internal and external communications, program recruitment, event promotions, development and implementation of content on all social, web, and e-communications platforms, and management of COB marketing student employees. These duties and services are provided for various COB stakeholders to include graduate, undergraduate, grant-funded programs, non-credit programs, and special initiatives. Work on some nights and weekends may be required. Other duties as assigned.

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is one of four campuses in the University of Colorado system and is home to over 10,500 undergraduate and 1,900 graduate students. The AACSB International accredited College of Business enrolls approximately 2,000 students annually. The College of Business offers comprehensive undergraduate degrees, select master’s degrees, and professional programs that emphasize principle-based ethical decision making.

Job Duties

Marketing and Communications

  • Supports development, production, and posting of content and communications across a variety of COB platforms, including social media, email, website, print and digital marketing materials, videos and/or advertisements.
  • Designs and sends e-communications for COB offices, including three COB newsletters and one ethics newsletter.
  • Writes compelling copy for a variety of communication materials; knowledge of AP style a plus (press releases, newsletters, emails, flyers, etc.)
  • Oversees the marketing student employees with creation and design of marketing materials (e.g. flyers, posters, programs, mailings, email campaigns, etc.) in support of the communication and event management needs of the college.
  • Reviews all COB communication and marketing materials to ensure compliance with UCCS brand and style guidelines.
  • Website Development

  • Develops, designs, and evaluates the COB’s website content using the campus web content management system.
  • Monitors and corrects website problems to include broken links, images, etc.  
  • Utilizes analytics tools such as Google Analytics, social media aggregators, and conversion data to interpret metrics. Summarizes metrics (e.g. web page performance, search volume, advertising campaign performance, etc.) and reports to the Marketing and Communications Program Manager.
  • Works with COB programs to update their webpages and offers training and web resources as needed.Project Coordination

  • Liaise and traffic marketing project requests from a variety of offices and programs.
  • Coordinates COB marketing projects to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Manages student employees in their marketing and communications projects.
  • Works with COB programs for event planning and promotion.Job Competencies

  • Ability to generate and maintain productive, professional working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously while effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently.This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    What We Offer

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $38,221 - $52,000 per year.

    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    This position is dependent on the availability of external grant and gift funding. Funding is currently expected to 2/28/2024.

    Tentative Search Timeline

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment (e.g. Business, Marketing, Communications, etc.)
  • At least one (1) year of full-time equivalent work experience in a role related to marketing or communications.
  • At least one (1) year of full-time equivalent work experience developing and designing marketing materials.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of full-time equivalent work experience with social media management for an organization.
  • Experience working for a university or a non-profit company.
  • Experience with campus information systems and reporting tools.
  • Experience in photography, videography, and/or editing.
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Premiere Pro.
  • Experience with CRM and/or eComm tools, paid digital ads (Facebook, Google), Drupal, Google Analytics, Wordpress, Cvent, Formstack, MailChimp, and/or Canva.
  • Experience with direct mail programs (traditional and electronic), advertising, promotional materials, media relations, and web and database marketing.
  • Experience in maintaining branding guidelines.
  • Experience and understanding of event planning and event management software such as Cvent.
  •  Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.

  • Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time
  • Ability to type on a keyboard and use a mouse continuously for long periods of time.
