Job Description

The Senior Enrollment Management (EM) Data Analyst is responsible for executing on a variety of responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner. The EM Data Analyst will develop and maintain reports on student enrollment, retention, recruitment, enrollment processing, financial aid, and various enrollment-related initiatives.

They will develop processes for data preparation, including collecting, cleaning, and consolidating data from disparate systems. They will work closely with the institution’s enrollment, admissions, registrar, and financial aid teams to optimize the methods used for extracting, merging, and storing relevant data for analysis purposes.

The Senior EM Data Analyst is responsible for the integrity of the Enrollment Management Division database. They will create interactive data visualizations on trends and key performance metrics related to enrollment, student success and degree persistence. In addition, this position will work closely with the Institutional Research, Information Technology Services and Student Success & Engagement offices to design and implement a collaborative infrastructure and culture to support stakeholders across the University.

This position typically works Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours to include evenings, weekends, and peak times.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides functional user and high-level technical expertise and enhances the enrollment management division’s efforts by managing enrollment data standards, establishing best practice reports, and examining data to help make informed strategic decisions.

  • Acts as a liaison among stakeholders, performs analysis in order to understand the business needs, policies, and operations, and recommends solutions that support and enable the University to achieve its goals.

  • Utilizes analytical and data management tools to perform intermediate to advanced level data creation, management, analysis and troubleshooting activities in support of exceeding enrollment goals. Performs statistical analyses associated with projects.

  • Manages and supports the student information system and other enrollment systems including, but not limited to, a customer relationship management software and document management system (i.e. Ellucian, Target X, and Laserfische).

  • Develops consistent standards and practice and maintains academic and data integrity of student systems for optimum usage.

  • Produces dashboards and visualization reports.

  • Works in collaboration with Enrollment Management leadership to continually asses data needs and build and execute plans to effectively launch new initiatives.

  • Assists Enrollment Management and University officials in designing and implementing practices that improve the ability to efficiently meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff.

  • Oversees effective communication and change management processes to drive improvements in functions and data provided by Enrollment Management.

  • Leads advisory and working groups that provide guidance on priorities and strategy to help facilitate continuous improvement.

  • Assures adherence to state, federal and University regulations and guidelines.

  • Develops documentation and procedures for systems and trains and supports users, as needed.

  • Serves on various institutional committees and task forces.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field.

  • Four years of related experience in data collection and analysis, and using data management systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with creating, developing and managing dashboards in Tableau.

  • Rigorous analytical approach and commitment to data-informed decision making.

  • Leadership in optimizing institutional reporting tools.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage projects across divisions.

  • Previous experience managing or supporting a customer relationship management tool/database is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Ellucian is a plus.

  • Ability to communicate information orally and in writing in a way that is understandable for multiple different audiences, including to those with limited data knowledge or experience.

  • Must be a self-starter, innovative and creative thinker and be relentless in pursuit of reaching their goals.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • Ability to become proficient in SQL, Tableau and Visio

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and follow up on open issues

  • Excellent English language skills – both written and verbal
