Department Summary:

Student Financial Services is responsible for the billing and collection of tuition, fees and third-party charges. The department issues UNT ID cards, administers payment plans, processes refunds and issues short-term loans to eligible students.

Position Overview:

To perform varied accounting functions relating to all aspects of the department including, but not limited to: Student Receivables in the Student Financials Module of EIS, registration, Student Accounts Payable and ID Cards with primary emphasis on providing customer service to parents, students, faculty and staff through a variety of contact methods including SFS emails; Call Center escalations; direct phone inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree and one year of professional experience in customer or student services. Substitution of education for experience allowed. As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Skill in telephone etiquette and courteous communication with public, verbally and in writing.
• Skill in delivering outstanding customer service.
• Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
• Ability to demonstrate patience when assisting customers with a variety of issues.
• Ability to understand and articulate institutional policies, procedures and federal, state regulations. Maintains up to date knowledge of same.
• Skill in the operation of a variety of office machines including personal computers, telephones and copiers.
• Skill in learning, utilizing and helping others use various computer applications.
• Skill in English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Skill in basic math.
• Basic MS Office skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: * Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to a diverse population of customers. * Ability to consistently deliver exceptional customer service in-person, by phone and by electronic communications. * Ability to work both independently and with a group. * Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all co-workers.

Work Schedule:

M-F; 8am – 5pm with some overtime required.

Must maintain a working knowledge of the EIS system, navigate the system, comprehend and explain student accounts, troubleshoot issues and understand processes which affect the student account. Must document appropriate comments in EIS when necessary.

o:

Completes assignments accurately and in a timely manner with minimal follow-up required. Demonstrates initiative by taking action to provide customer service within scope of position and actively seeks additional assignments from supervisor.

o:

Actively supports initiatives to engage all employees in the workplace. Provides timely communication to team members. Takes actions to demonstrate care for team members and to communicate their value as part of the team. Recognizes and promotes accomplishments of team members.

o:

Rresponsible to work with departmental personnel form other areas regarding issues related to the faculty staff scholarship. Contact should be handled in a professional and couteous manner.
