Responsibilities

Applying professional Student Services concepts, provides the full range of student services to student population served by the organization.

Academic Advising
  • Advises faculty on departmental/school/college and university policies and procedures; reviews students' progress and advises students and faculty on requirements for degree/program completion; identifies students with progression problems and recommends interventions; devises curriculum planning in collaboration with directors and faculty, and with other departments.
  • Plans and implements outreach programs for the Master of Financial Engineering degree with specifically targeted institutions; advises prospective applicants on necessary academic preparation; appropriateness of program as it pertains to the prospective applicant's goals; utilizing in-depth knowledge of the organization's admissions criteria, helps rank applicants for admissions; evaluates domestic and international transcripts for degree eligibility; initiates and arranges student recruitment visits to Berkeley.
  • Organizes information sessions and works with the program / university on diversity initiatives.

Student Conduct
  • Responsible for interpreting campus policies and advising students and faculty on student conduct, student grievances, disputes, and issues regarding discrimination.

Course Scheduling
  • Devises curriculum planning in collaboration with directors and faculty, and with other departments, to ensure students' progress through course sequences, avoiding conflicts, and ensuring compliance with campus-wide policies.
  • Plans and implements complex, high-visibility student events, such as commencements and orientation.

Career Counseling
  • Advises department/college/school students on the job market process, and the standards and norms specific to the student's field of study; advises on MFE Fall internship program; develops and maintains network of departments and regional firms interested in hiring MFE students.
  • Organizes job fairs.
  • Develops and enhances an alumni recruitment network. Identifies and cultivates potential employers.
  • Takes into account individual student goals and works with directors to help students map strategies.
  • Manage and maintain internal job posting site for students and alumni (GradLeaders).

Accounting
  • Process all MFE Program office financial paperwork
  • Monitor procurements and expenditures; Reconcile financial reports, prepare projections, and resolve discrepancies in projected and actual expenditures.
  • Interface with campus accounting personnel and vendors to resolve problems and discrepancies in payments.
  • Assist in development of annual budget proposal.

  • Embraces the principle of being a "student always" by engaging in opportunities for training, workshops, seminars, continuing education pertinent to the position, or at the suggestion of the supervisor

  • Engages in ongoing education to promote diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging by completing University sponsored certifications & training sessions (Ie: MEP Workshop, Implicit Bias Certification, LinkedIn Learning workshops, and other workshops & seminars offered by the University or Haas, as they are made available) or by engaging in external seminars & resources related to DEIB.

Required Qualifications
  • Exceptional organizational skills to plan & promote complex events and manage projects.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles & budgeting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a high caliber of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of or can learn quickly to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
  • Knowledge of or can quickly learn and/or has thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at UC or other colleges / universities.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving & critical thinking skills that lead to effective decision making and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution.
  • Can establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations and other institutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.
  • Exemplifies Haas Defining Principles: students always, confidence w/o attitude, question the status quo, and beyond yourself.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite as well as Google documents, spreadsheets and forms and can quickly and easily adapt to new technologies.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Slate Technolutions.
  • Knowledge of Hubspot.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience up to $75,500.00.
