Postdoctoral Fellow for the Alfred E. Osborne, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Entrepreneurship

Job description

Postdoctoral Fellow for the Alfred E. Osborne, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Entrepreneurship
University of California Los Angeles

Requisition Number: JPF06253

UCLA Anderson plans to hire for the Alfred Osborne Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Entrepreneurship affiliated with the Harold & Pauline Price Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, beginning in the summer of 2021. The position has an initial term of one year, with a second-year extension available following a satisfactory evaluation of research activity in the first year.

Alfred E. Osborne, Jr., has been part of the UCLA community for more than 40 years, serving as a professor and in numerous administrative roles including as Interim Dean. He has led the Price Center for more than 30 of those years, building it into one of the leading academic centers for entrepreneurship. The Fellowship honors his many contributions by helping to develop the next generation of entrepreneurship scholars.

The Osborne Fellowship is intended to support a talented scholar doing research relevant to entrepreneurship and interested in teaching entrepreneurship courses. UCLA Anderson has scholars interested in entrepreneurship in a number of its academic areas, including in Finance, Strategy, Global Economics and Management, and in Decisions, Operations, and Technology Management. Candidates whose entrepreneurship-relevant research interests overlap with those of one or more current faculty at UCLA Anderson will be preferred.

Before beginning this position, Alfred Osborne Fellows must have completed a PhD (or at least a successful dissertation defense) in management or in a related discipline (e.g., economics, finance, psychology, sociology) and have demonstrated an interest in and ability to advance entrepreneurship-relevant research. Candidates will also be evaluated on their interest in and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, in building ties across the university, and on the extent to which they are committed to the success and mentorship of students from underrepresented and underserved populations.

Once hired, the Osborne Fellow will be expected (i) to assist with the research activities of the Price Center, including research summaries and translations, (ii) to engage with some of the co-curricular activities of the Price Center, (iii) to continue to pursue his or her research program, and (iv) to participate in the broader UCLA Anderson research community (e.g., attending research seminars, mentoring graduate students, exploring research collaborations). The fellow will be encouraged to work both independently and in collaborations of their choosing to enrich the empirical research contributions of the school.

Review of candidates for the position will begin on April 2. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, a representative manuscript, and a research statement describing their interests (including any specific faculty collaborators and/or projects they would like to pursue as part of the fellowship). In order to receive full consideration, please submit your application materials online at https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF06253.
