Assistant Professor, Art Education
Assistant Professor in Art Education. Full-time, tenure track. Competitive salary with full benefits. Minimum Qualifications: PhD or EdD in Art Education (ABDs may apply, but the requirements for the Doctoral degree must be completed before the start date); minimum three years of K-12 Visual Arts teaching experience; college-level teaching experience, (either as a TA or instructor of record); demonstrable record of achievement in scholarship (e.g., journal articles, conference presentations). Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience teaching art in a K-12 public school setting; experience in student teacher supervision using the Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA); demonstrated experience teaching online courses; experience working with diverse populations or integrating higher education with Community Arts Education; MFA or equivalent degree (e.g., MDes) or recognized practice in the studio arts (e.g., work displayed in exhibitions or juried shows); syllabus or student work samples indicating the incorporation of technology, visual culture, contemporary studio practices, digital arts, or graphic design into Art Education curriculum; minimum three years’ experience with administrative or other leadership roles. Essential Duties: Teach courses within the BFA in Art Education program in one or more of the following areas: Art & Visual Culture Education, Community Arts Education, Studio Art Methods, Visual Arts Content Literacy, Student Teaching, and other areas as needed; teach graduate online MA in Art Education courses in the following areas: Art & Visual Culture Education, Community Arts Education & Service Learning, Research Methods, MA Project/Thesis, and other areas as needed; develop curriculum related to technology in art, visual arts content literacy, and design education; contribute to the planning, maintenance, and periodic revision of Art Education curriculum; work with BFA Art Education majors as an advisor and professional mentor; maintain creative research, scholarship, and professional involvement in the field of Art Education; assist with the development of teaching practicums and Community Arts Education internships; serve as a Faculty Co-Mentor to the Student Art Education Association (SAEA) club; and, participate in professional duties, activities, and service within the Division of Art Education, School of Art, University, and external community.
