Overview
Princeton University has received a multi-year monetary gift focusing on undergraduate and graduate student health and well-being. This gift supports TigerWell, an initiative that is multi-faceted and involves engaging the campus as a whole in promoting well-being. University Health Services (UHS) administers TigerWell, which includes skills-building, outreach, events, professional development, and program assessment and evaluation. The TigerWell team (the Project Manager, three Mental Health Outreach Counselors, a part-time Administrative Coordinator, and UHS's Director of Health Promotion and Prevention Services (HPPS), in coordination with campus partners, works to bring the vision for the Initiative to reality. The Health Communications Specialist will work collaboratively with the TigerWell team, under the direction of the Project Manager, to meet Initiative goals. The Health Communications Specialist will have the opportunity to impact on how, when, and why health and well-being are communicated about to campus stakeholders and students.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities **This is a two-year term position with possibility of extension** We seek a well-rounded Health Communications Specialist who will lead TigerWell's health communication strategies. The Specialist's communications portfolio will:
- raise visibility and provide accurate information about the TigerWell initiative;
Bachelor's degree with 2 + years of experience in public health or health education communications work or Master's Degree in Public Health or Health Education with focus on health communication Working knowledge of the following programs or interfaces: Squarespace, Instagram, Qualtrics, InDesign, Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, as well as competency with web design and development for mobile devices Knowledge of inclusive practices in health communication The ability to write with clarity, accuracy, and brevity; demonstrated skill in translating complex topics into clear, lively, and straightforward prose; keen eye for detail as well as careful attention to tone and quality of writing; ability to convey content in culturally responsive ways to varied audiences Understanding of best practices for communicating with particular audiences (e.g., undergraduate students, graduate students, staff and faculty campus partners, communities of shared cultural identities) Strong innovative and strategic thinking in message/campaign development and coordination UHS hires individuals of all backgrounds.
