Project: Investigating Interactions Between Virus and Bacterial Pathogens in Fruit Trees
We are recruiting a post-doctoral scientist to join the Clemson Peach Team! South Carolina ranks second in peach production in the United States, and the Clemson Peach Team includes a diverse group of researchers and extension agents focused on ensuring the long-term viability of South Carolina’s signature fruit crop, the peach. This project is focused on advancing research on interactions between viruses and Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. pruni in peach. The research scholar will gain experience in pathology, transcriptomics, field research, and mentoring.
This post-doctoral researcher will be housed in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences in the Biosystems Research Complex at the main campus of Clemson University, although will also work at the Edisto Research and Education Center. The primary mentor will be Dr. Elizabeth Cieniewicz (Assistant Professor, PES), with key mentorship and collaboration from co-PIs (Dr. Wang, PES, Edisto REC, and Dr. Melgar, PES).
Funding is guaranteed for one year and extension is contingent upon availability of funds. The position will begin as soon as possible.
