STANDARD HOURS: 37.5 hours per week Monday-Thursday 12:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Flexibility to work other hours as needed.

MINIMUM STARTING SALARY*: $21.37/hour

*Current benefit eligible employees will be placed within the pay range based on their current rate/range.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Instructional Technology Specialist expertise spans many areas of instructional and non-instructional technology support including a high degree of knowledge in the areas of telecommunications, audio and video equipment, and personal computer hardware and software. The person in this position must demonstrate a high level of people skills in working with and providing technical support for faculty, staff, students, vendors, contractors, and the public. This includes troubleshooting and maintaining instructional technology hardware, software, systems, and peripherals.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Assist with district wide audio-visual equipment set up for events as needed.
  • Schedule, monitor usage, setup, maintain, service and inventory learning technology, audio visual equipment and instructional technology equipment.
  • Provide technical support to faculty and staff in regard to instructional technology and audio-visual equipment; assist faculty with classroom hardware and software problems as requested.
  • Respond to faculty or staff requests for loan of audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist with maintaining training documentation for faculty and staff on the use of classroom technology and presentation systems.
  • Identify computer hardware and software malfunctions and apply appropriate options to resolve the issue(s)
  • Identify and recommend the replacement/purchase of audio visual and computer equipment as faculty and staff needs change.
  • Assist team members with the delivery, setup and operation of AV equipment for daily calendar and special events.
  • Stay current with new audio visual and computer equipment and trends.
  • May assist with installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining, fixed and mobile classroom interactive audio/video systems used for real-time presentation, course capture, streaming video, and podcasting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Associate's Degree in an Audio-Visual or Computer Science field of study.

Experience: Minimum two years related experience in Audio-visual equipment and software troubleshooting.

**An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office Suite, web conferencing systems, basic networking knowledge, streaming video applications.

Other Requirements

Knowledge of IT Helpdesk process; knowledge of cable, broadcast, and interactive television/videoconferencing/web conferencing equipment operation and set up desired; knowledge of IP network operating system administration and maintenance; knowledge of Multi-point Control Units use and administration desirable; Ability to train others on video, audio-visual type equipment and software; Have basic knowledge of budget processes, purchase requisitions, allocation and inventory procedures.

Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.
