Job Details
Biology: Assistant Teaching Professor (two positions) in Ecology and Community-Based Conservation beginning Fall Semester 2021. Each professor to teach four courses per semester in ecology, environmental biology, conservation biology, community engagement in science, and evolutionary biology. The positions also require advising of students and service to the institution. These are non-tenure track positions but they are renewable and have opportunities to promotion that include long-term contracts.
The Assistant Teaching Professors will teach courses delivered online for Project Dragonfly graduate students and in-person lecture classes on the Oxford, Ohio campus for undergraduate biology majors and non-majors. In addition to academic-year duties, the Assistant Teaching Professors are eligible to apply to instruct summer online courses and Earth Expeditions field courses in Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. Advising duties would include guiding undergraduates and graduate students in course planning and scheduling. Service to the institution would include involvement in departmental and university committees.
Required: Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, or closely related field by date of appointment.
Consideration may be given to applicants with experience in teaching ecology, evolution or environmental biology, involvement in community-based conservation, advancing diverse and inclusive public engagement in science, learning across formal and informal settings, ethnoecology, or involvement in international research; experience with web-based courses and instruction; familiarity with collaborative/instructional tools such as Zoom, Skype, Google apps, and creation of video/instructional media.
