Position Summary:

The Science Academic Recruitment and Retention Liaison reports to the School of Science Dean.  They are the primary link between the academic school and the offices of admissions, student success, and career and personal development. Primary duties require effective recruitment of talented high school students intending to major in a program offered by the School, assisting in the mentoring and advising of enrolled students such that high levels of retention are reached, and planning and leading activities designed to recruit and retain students in that academic school.

Main Responsibilities:

·        Recruit an acceptable number of new students each year in accordance with the mission and goals of the university. Primary focus will be on especially academically talented students.

o   Regularly contact assigned students via the phone, text, email, postal mail and social media.

o   Travel to some high school, academic and college-bound events.

o   Work with the School Dean to coordinate with faculty members on student outreach, campus visits and school-related programming.

o   Create and consistently improve the campus visit experience for prospective students within the School.

·        Effectively mentor students within the School such that their retention at the university remains at a high level by monitoring academic performance and implementing measures to support their academic performance.

o   Create and lead events designed to bring students and faculty regularly together.

o   Assist faculty with academic advising.

o   Monitor students’ academic progress.

o   Become knowledgeable of and proficient with the new EAB Student Success Management System and help faculty with learning and utilizing this system.

o   Work with School Dean and the University Director of Student Success on retention initiatives.

o   Work with the Career and Personal Development Office to assist students with post-graduation plans.

·        Become highly knowledgeable about the strengths and unique qualities of the academic and co-curricular programs offered within the School and effectively communicate the same to prospective and current students. Majors in the School of Science will include biochemistry, biology, biomedical sciences, chemistry, computer science, data science and analytics, environmental science, exercise science: kinesiology, mathematics, physics, and rehabilitation health sciences.

·        Attend appropriate School and admissions staff meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably within a field offered by the academic School.   A current driver’s license and ability to travel is required. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends is also required.

A background check will be conducted on the final candidate.

El Enlace de Reclutamiento y Retención Académica de Ciencias se reporta con el decano de la Escuela de Ciencias. Son el principal vínculo entre la escuela académica y las oficinas de admisiones, éxito estudiantil y carrerea y desarrollo personal. Las tareas primarias requieren la contratación efectiva de estudiantes talentosos de secundaria con la intención de especializarse en un programa ofrecido por la Escuela, ayudar en la tutoría y asesoramiento de los estudiantes inscritos de tal manera que se alcancen altos niveles de retención, y la planificación y las actividades lideres diseñadas para recular y retener a los estudiantes en esa escuela académica.

Principales responsabilidades

Reclutar un numero aceptable de nuevos estudiantes cada año de acuerdo con la misión y los objetivos de la universidad. La atención primaria se centrará especialmente en los estudiantes con talento académico.

o   Ponerse en contacto regularmente con los estudiantes asignados atreves del teléfono, texto, correo electrónico, correo postal y redes sociales

o   Viajar a algunos eventos de secundaria, académicos y universitarios

o   Trabajar con el Decano de la Escuela para coordinarse con los miembros de la facultad en divulgación de estudiantes, visitas al campus y programación relacionada con la escuela.

o   Crear y mejorar constantemente la experiencia de visita al campus para los futuros estudiantes dentro de la Escuela

Asesorar eficazmente a los estudiantes dentro de la Escuela de tal manera que su retención en la universidad permanezca en un alto nivel mediante la supervisión del rendimiento académico e implementar medidas para apoyar su desempeño académico.

o   Crear y liderar eventos diseñados para reunir a estudiantes y profesores regularmente.

o   Ayudar a la facultad con el asesoramiento académico.

o   Supervisar el progreso académico de los estudiantes.

o   Estar informado de y competente con el nuevo Sistema de Administración del Éxito Estudiantil de la EAB y ayudar a los profesores con el aprendizaje y la utilización de este sistema.

o   Trabajar con el Decano y el Director Universitario de Éxito Estudiantil en iniciativas de retención

o   Trabajar con la Oficina de Carrera y Desarrollo Personal para ayudar a los estudiantes con los planes posteriores a la graduación

Tener alto conocimiento de las fuerzas y cualidades únicas de los programas académicos y curriculares ofrecidos dentro de la escuela y comunicar eficazmente lo mismo a los estudiantes potenciales y actuales. Las especializaciones en la Escuela de Ciencias incluirán bioquímica, biología, ciencias biomédicas, química, informática, ciencia de datos y análisis, ciencias ambientales, ciencias del ejercicio: kinesiología, matemáticas, física y ciencias de la salud de rehabilitación.

Asistir a las reuniones apropiadas del personal de la Escuela y de admisiones.

Requisitos mínimos

Se requiere una licenciatura, preferiblemente dentro de un campo ofrecido por la Escuela académica. Se requiere una licencia de conducir actual y la capacidad de viajar. Capacidad de trabajar horas flexibles, también es necesario incluir algunas noches y fines de semana.

Se llevará a cabo una verificación de antecedentes sobre el candidato final.
