Position Summary:
The creativity and innovation associate at Middlebury College is charged with providing operational and technical support for the implementation of programs and outreach efforts to support campus activities related to creativity and innovation. The associate will also be responsible for communicating initiatives and success stories of individuals and groups to internal and external audiences through writing, speaking, video, and managing the website and social media. They will manage several student-run initiatives and programs as well as perform administrative tasks for overall programs.


Essential Functions:
Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Anticipated start date July 2021 and is a 12-18 month term position.

Develop, implement and support programs to inform and inspire creativity and innovation at Middlebury. Verify and report the effectiveness of these programs.

Support, coordinate, train and motivate students to build successful creativity and innovation initiatives through mentorship and advising, the facilitation of grant programs, and event support.

Produce and direct video and multimedia stories about the efforts of Middlebury students, faculty and staff that demonstrate leadership and learning about creativity and innovation.

Serve as a conduit for communication between students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and Middlebury community members, including the development and maintenance of a database of contacts.

Serve as the administrative liaison for Middlebury’s partnership with local and state entrepreneurial organizations like LaunchVT, VCET, Hula, Fresh Tracks, and economic development organizations.

Write copy and other documentation for distribution to internal and external audiences.

Speak publicly about the creativity and innovation programs.

Compile news and event announcements into weekly electronic newsletter. Maintain strong C & I social media presence.

Take, edit and place photos and videos. Film and edit speaker events.

Maintain the website, including blog and media updates - keep content current

Support the management of annual budgets that mirror program needs, vouchers and reimbursements.

Direct supervision of undergraduate interns.


General Responsibilities:
Support, as needed, the other programs that fall under the Innovation Hub.

Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s degree is required, some work experience is helpful, must have experience in the field of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong theoretical and quantitative research skills

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and marketing skills

A person who strives, takes charge, defines the process, and makes things happen in a largely unstructured setting

Highly motivated and goal-oriented personality

Ability to work independently and flexibly, ability to set priorities; ability to solve problems quickly and creatively

Excellent computer and software skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, HTML, Adobe Publisher, Banner or Hyperion a plus

Flexibility to support, encourage and respond to program growth during upcoming targeted efforts


Experience:
Experience in the field of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Candidates who are familiar with both the College and Addison County, most desirable.

The Bread Loaf School of English is in session each summer not only in Middlebury but also at Lincoln College, Oxford, in the United Kingdom; at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
