    The University of Toledo Department of Communication invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Communication Studies to begin August 2021. The ideal candidate will have an expertise in digital communication and be able to teach courses in social media, visual communication, and digital publishing. Additionally, the ideal candidate should bring an additional area of expertise and be able to contribute to other courses across the communication curriculum. Possible additional courses include (but are not limited to): Public Presentations, Organizational Communication, Professional Business Communication, Group Communication, Research Methods, Communication in Non-Profit Organizations or other courses that align with the candidate’s expertise.

    The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Communication or a related field. Candidates close to Ph.D. completion at the time of appointment will be considered. Applicants with both professional and academic experience in communication are preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is preferable, but not required. In addition to teaching, the candidate must be committed to academic research and to performing university and community service. Further preferred qualifications include experience mentoring first generation and underrepresented minority college students.
