Health Professions Librarian - Ancilla College of Marian University

Job Description:

Ancilla College of Marian University invites applications for a Health Professions Librarian. This full-time position will be located on campus in Plymouth, Indiana, and will promote Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing research support and delivering library instruction to students and faculty online and in person. This position will also be responsible for assisting with daily library operations at Ancilla and will act as person in charge of the library in the absence of the Library Manager. This position will report to the Director of Library Services (Indianapolis) with a dotted line to the Indianapolis Health Professions Librarian and will work closely with library staff at both Ancilla and Indianapolis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • Provide primary library support for Nursing, Veterinary Nursing, and Exercise Science students and faculty in person and remotely at Ancilla, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Oklahoma locations.
  • Provide library support and instruction for other academic programs at Ancilla as necessary.
  • Expand research support offered remotely to Nashville and Oklahoma nursing students.
  • Develop instructional tools and assessments for information literacy.
  • Assists in Collection Development in support of health science curriculum.
  • Partner with faculty to incorporate library resources in courses and assignments.
  • Share desk coverage responsibilities with Library Manager and student workers.
  • Maintain working knowledge of circulation, access services, and Interlibrary Loan functions and perform these tasks in the absence of Library Manager.
  • Proactively establish partnerships with other campus departments, such as Student Affairs, to collaborate on programming and promote library services.
  • Promote open educational resources and MUShare (institutional repository) and connect faculty with appropriate Indianapolis librarians for support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Required Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications:

  • ALA accredited master's degree in library or information science.
  • Experience with providing reference and research services in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and current trends in information literacy instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with others in a rapidly changing environment, including remotely.
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, creating online research guides, instructional videos, tutorials, and/or other digital learning objects and instructional support materials.
  • Strong commitment to equity and inclusion and the ability to work effectively and collegially with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
