Job Description:We offer a 4-level comprehensive academic ESL program which prepares students for college-level courses. Our levels range from intermediate through advanced, and our students represent the diverse community of the close-in Washington, D.C., suburbs. We support our adjuncts by supplying syllabi, materials, and assessments. If you have experience teaching adults or young adults in an academic setting and are familiar with student-centered methods and integrating technology in your teaching, please consider joining our team.
Adjuncts may teach 5 or 10 credits per semester (1 to 2 classes). Classes are available from early morning through evening.
Special Assignments:May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications:Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, the ability to work in a collegial manner with a highly diverse faculty, staff and student population and the ability to teach in an urban community college setting. Candidates for all positions are expected to have an understanding of instructional technology
Masters degree (in any field) + 18 graduate credits in TESOL/Applied Linguistics (or related field)
Preferred Qualifications:Significant experience teaching in a diverse urban community college setting preferred.
