Required Education:

Terminal degree such as a Ph.D. or PsyD in Psychology, Social Work or related discipline or a M.D. degree in Child Psychiatry or the equivalent

Required Related Experience:

Clinical knowledge and high level training skills in trauma-informed evidence-based practices, program management skills, curriculum development, strategic planning, information monitoring and a basic knowledge of research methods and data analysis. Training experience and skills with graduate and post-graduate level students and professionals. Ability to relate and communicate with internal and external faculty, staff and other clients of the Center on Trauma and Children and the Department of Psychiatry. Evidence of high level of clinical and training/teaching competence in child traumatic stress. Demonstrated ability in teaching others at all levels using a trauma framework.

Required License/Registration/Certification:

If MD or the equivalent, eligibility for board certification in Adult and Child Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Current licensure, or eligibility to obtain licensure, to practice in the state of Kentucky (if requested).

Job Summary:

The Center on Trauma and Children is seeking an Assistant Professor to maintain and expand the current level of research, training and clinical activity. This position will provide services exclusively to the University of Kentucky’s Center on Trauma and Children (https://www.uky.edu/CTAC/). The successful candidate must have demonstrated competency in trauma-informed evidence-based practices, program management skills, curriculum development, strategic planning, information monitoring and a basic knowledge of research methods and data analysis.

The University of Kentucky Center on Trauma and Children (CTAC), located in the College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is dedicated to the enhancement of the health and well-being of children and their families through research, practice, policy and the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based approaches to address child abuse and trauma. CTAC recognizes the impact of indirect trauma on the child-serving workforce and seeks to address this pervasive occupational hazard.

The Department of Psychiatry at the University Of Kentucky College of Medicine strives to provide the highest level of patient care, innovative educational programs, active research in mental illness and advocacy throughout the state of Kentucky and beyond.
