About Us

Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. Job Description

To safely transport program participants to and from program classes/activities. Also, perform other duties as needed for program support.

The position reports directly to the ECEAP program Director. This positon requires knowledge and implementation of: appropriate/safe/lawful driving skills; knowledge of (TEFD) Teacher Education and Family Development approved positive child guidance strategies; and ability to establish positive rapport with parents, children, and co-workers. The incumbent will be responsible for designated record keeping, completion of daily vehicle safety checks, vehicle refueling and maintenance follow through (utilizing local vendors), and working with other staff for scheduling of daily transportation routes. The incumbent may also perform other duties as needed to support the ECEAP programs as food service, classroom support, attendance at staff meetings, office support, etc. This requires strong oral and written communication skills with co-workers, parents, and children.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Drive program bus, college van/bus, and similar vehicle to transport program participants to and from program classes/activities. Assist passengers getting on and off vehicles as needed. (Ability to lift up to 70 Ibs.)
  2. May deliver food items, meals, and/or program supplies/may load and unload these items. (Ability to lift 70 Ibs.)
  3. Drive to transport program participants for field trips and special events, as scheduled/ program allows.
  4. Will provide emergency transport during program hours schedule allows.
  5. Communicates with other staff members and parents to schedule and coordinate daily transportation route/needs. Displays flexibility as emergent scheduling revisions occur.
  6. Provides a communication link between home and programs.
  7. Maintains daily written records of mileage, passenger picks ups, drops off, in both programs, and submits required data/report information in a timely manner.
  8. Completes written documentation of daily vehicle safety checks (lights, tire pressure, turn signals, lights, mirrors, etc.)
  9. Maintains appropriate fuel levels in vehicles. Reports trouble or concerns regarding vehicle maintenance, supplies, and repair needs to program managers follows through with approved maintenance requirements utilizing local vendors and approved college procedures.
  10. Acts as mandated reporter in accordance to child welfare laws and regulations.
  11. Supports Teacher Education and Family Development Department with community outreach by participating in designated community events with prior arrangements (may involve evening and/or weekend time.)
  12. Perform other duties as needed to support operation of ECEAP programs, as scheduled allows. This often applies to times when bus routes are not in operation but is not limited to this. Examples may include:
  • Food service participates in food preparation and or serving, and/or delivery of meals.
  • Classrooms support assisting core classroom staff.
  • Attends program staff meetings as determined with each program and as driving schedule allows.
  • Office support – answers phone, makes copies, deliver mail, organizes intake packets, participates in inventory processes, etc.
  • Attend monthly Bud safety meetings as a program representative to access and share current information with director.
  • Participates in pertinent training, as requested by supervisors.
  • Other as determined.
  • Submit to random drug testing as requested.
  • Provide annual driving abstract to program director.Qualifications
    • Current/ valid Washington state driver’s license/CDL license and passenger endorsement with two years driving experience within this context.
    • Current negative TB test (or signed statement from Health Dept. that named is cleared)
    • Proof of MMR Immunization
    • Documentation of clean driving record
    • Cleared portable background check/via MERIT
    • Current infant/child CPR and First Aid training
    • HIV/AIDS Training and/or blood pathogen training
    • On-going random drug testing with negative results

    Salary: Range 41-G Step A $21.27/hour

    Centralia College East

    Centralia College East (CCEast), located in Morton, represents Centralia College's dedication to meeting educational needs of the residents of central and eastern Lewis County. CCEast provides registration services, educational advising and tutoring, Running Start, career counseling, assistance with financial aid, adult literacy tutoring, GED, T.E.E.N. program for pregnant and parenting teens, placement testing (COMPASS), and online access to Centralia College's library resources.     Garrett Heyns Education Center

    The Garrett Heyns Education Center (GHEC) is located within the Washington Corrections Center, a medium security correctional facility situated on a 455-acre site three miles north of the city of Shelton. The Corrections Center is located 50 miles north of Centralia College's main campus and houses approximately 1,600 inmates. Centralia College has participated in an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections to provide educational services for offenders since 1975. GHEC is a branch campus of Centralia College.
