About Us

Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, ELL, and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers four Bachelor of Applied Science degrees: Information Technology - Application Development, Diesel Technology, Applied Management (Business), and Teacher Education.

In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Since the college is committed to the success of all students, Centralia College also provides educational programs at two corrections centers in southwest Washington - Garrett Heyns Education Center located in Shelton, Washington and Cedar Creek Corrections Center located in Littlerock, Washington. In total, the college serves more than 7,000 students annually. For more than 90 years, several generations of Lewis County residents have looked to Centralia College for their education and training needs.

Job Description

This is an open invitation to apply for Centralia College East’s Adjunct Faculty Instructor Pool.

Adjunct faculty members are hired on a quarter-to-quarter basis as positions are available. (Revised) Day and evening in classroom setting courses are available on a rotating quarterly basis (Online courses not available). Centralia College East is located in Morton, WA.

Qualifications

Qualifications for specific courses may vary. Master’s degrees in the course content area or four years of relevant work experience in the field and teaching experience are generally required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with community college teaching experience.

Conditions of Employment

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO.

Adjunct employment is ongoing and filled based on need. Applications will be screened as they are received.

COMPENSATION:

Current lecture/lab rates ($886.41 - $1,358.22 per credit)

The Region

The college is located in southwest Washington on the 1-5 corridor midway between Seattle and Portland, in a beautifully green area of forests and farmland. Wide fertile valleys are bordered by picturesque Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Range on the east, and the Willapa Hills on the west. Puget Sound and Hood Canal to the north and the Columbia River and famous Columbia River Gorge and Mount St. Helens to the south are within a short commute from the college. The populace enjoys the mild climate of the Pacific Northwest with low mean temperatures of 38 in January and a high mean of 78 in July.

Centralia College East

Centralia College East (CCEast), located in Morton, represents Centralia College's dedication to meeting educational needs of the residents of central and eastern Lewis County. CCEast provides registration services, educational advising and tutoring, Running Start, career counseling, assistance with financial aid, adult literacy tutoring, GED, T.E.E.N. program for pregnant and parenting teens, placement testing (COMPASS), and online access to Centralia College's library resources. Some classes connect CCEast students to the main campus via interactive television. The CCEast Organization of Students offers additional activities for students.

Garrett Heyns Education Center

The Garrett Heyns Education Center (GHEC) is located within the Washington Corrections Center, a medium security correctional facility situated on a 455-acre site three miles north of the city of Shelton. The Corrections Center is located 50 miles north of Centralia College's main campus and houses approximately 1,600 inmates. Centralia College has participated in an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections to provide educational services for offenders since 1975. GHEC is a branch campus of Centralia College.
