GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The applicant should possess the understanding and commitment to the community college philosophy. It is the responsibility of a regular/contract instructor to participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses, and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the visions, missions, and values of the colleges and District. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

A bachelor's degree in any subject and two years of experience in Paralegal, OR any associate degree in any subject and six years of experience in Paralegal, OR The equivalent.

Applicants must demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Academic preparation for, or successful experience in, teaching paralegal courses at the community college or university level.
  • Knowledgeable about the paralegal profession.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with teams of colleagues at all levels.
  • Skills and experience working effectively with people from a broad range of cultural, socioeconomic, and language backgrounds.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in the legal field and paralegal instructional program.
  • Ability and desire to assume leadership responsibility for the paralegal program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, electronically and in writing.
  • Ability to collect data and prepare reports on a regular basis in order to maintain an ABA approved program.
  • Experience working as a paralegal or working with other paralegals.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preparation to develop a technology oriented curriculum, to use computer technology in an instructional setting and a willingness to assume leadership in this task.
  • Ability to prepare curriculum appropriate to the demands of a diverse student population.
  • Ability and commitment to build community relationships and partnerships.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain communication with an established Advisory Committee; expand the active membership of the Committee.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor students and to develop positions for student interns and arrange their placement and progress.
  • Experience in preparing and in managing budgets.
  • Experience or ability to perform other duties consistent with faculty job description as stated in the faculty's contract.
  • Ability to teach in another discipline in the Business And Professional Studies Dept.
  • Commitment to educational equity.
