SUMMARY:

 

 

 

This position provides high-level grant/financial support for the Chair, Department Manager, and Faculty. This position is responsible for grant preparation and budget development, review of request for proposal, meeting with faculty to plan the proposal, review and upload proposals to COEUS, assisting BMRA with review of financial reports required by sponsors, liaising with BMRA on account set-up, financial reports and other sponsored requirements, creating and discussing monthly financial reports with key internal and Institutional stakeholders, completing and tracking billing agreements with partner institutions, effort reporting and timely submission of progress reports, Identifying and resolving issues that arise throughout the life cycle of the award, sub recipient monitoring on sub-awards/contracts, re-budget requests, financial projections, maintaining accounting records and reconciliations, budget reconciliation, no cost extension and carry-forward requests, ensuring compliance with Federal and University cost principles, & related job duties and special projects as required.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

 

Education and Experience

 

 

 

Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years related grant and administrative experience, preferably in an academic environment, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

 

A degree in Accounting or Finance field is preferred.

 

 

 

Job Competencies

 

 

 

Familiarity with Brown University financial systems and applications preferred: Workday, COEUS, Info Ed, ERA commons, and Fastlane Experience with wide variety of sponsored research awards

 

Proven record of delivering proactive service to multiple stakeholders and faculty Must be able to manage multiple and shifting priorities and interact with a diverse constituency

 

Demonstrated experience with electronic grant submission systems, and intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Excel. Willingness to learn other systems and processes is essential.

 

Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational capabilities.

 

Strong financial skills (budgeting, accounting, A/P, A/R, reporting).

 

Must be self-directed, possess ability to use high degree of judgment, work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. Attention to detail and ability to multitask essential. Must be a team player with a strong service-oriented attitude.

 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment required.

 

Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
