Senior Postal Clerk - Mail Service

Regular Fll-time, Market Range MR02

This position will be responsible for: receiving, sorting, and delivering incoming mail and packages from the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, and other private carriers to assigned departmental mail stops on a defined mail delivery route; collecting outgoing mail and packages at assigned departmental mail stops for processing by Mail Services staff and pick-up by the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, FedEx and other private carriers; scanning and loading packages into student package lockers as required; scanning deliveries at departmental mail stops and secure signatures for accountable mail and package deliveries (certified, registered, Priority Express Mail, Priority Mail, Ground and Express packages, etc.); ensure that expedited/time sensitive deliveries are made on time and within established service levels on a daily basis, and adhering to safe loading, unloading, and driving habits at all times.  This job also requires looking up undeliverable as addressed mail for address correction or return to sender, participation in early AM mail and package pick-up at U.S Postal Service facility as required, delivering bulk mail to the U.S. Postal Service as required, assisting with hand assembly projects in the mail finishing area as needed, maintaining cleanliness of mail delivery vehicles and work area, and performing other duties as required. 4 Positions Available



Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:      High school diploma or equivalent; the ability to read and write in English, ability to use computers and hand held scanning devices, good driving skills with a clean driving record and a valid TN driver license, ability to lift 70 lbs., ability to stand for extended periods of time, ability to load and unload trucks and vans using material handling and transport equipment, ability to walk with a load over varied terrain and distances (hills, stairs, inclines, sidewalks, etc.) under various weather conditions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:    Knowledge of mail room operations and knowledge of mail and package sort and delivery operations.  At least one year of mail room experience.  At least one year of mail and package sort and delivery experience.  Familiarity with the use of hand held scanners.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:                Detail oriented, good driving skills with a clean driving record and a valid TN driver license, and a high level of customer service.
