Regular Part-time (75%), Market Range 07 

WUOT FM, the public radio station licensed to the University of Tennessee and located on the UTK campus in Knoxville, seeks a part-time classical music radio programmer/announcer.  Classical music has been an integral part of WUOT’s programming throughout it’s over 60 years of public service to the East Tennessee community. WUOT is looking for someone with a love and knowledge of classical music and who is interested in hosting a new classical music program. 

WUOT will provide office space, computer, and appropriate music auditioning equipment, etc. for use by the part-time Sr. Radio Programmer/Announcer.  Other materials may be provided at the discretion of management.

Position’s Responsibilities:

This position will serve as the on-air board operator and producer/host of WUOT’s Monday through Friday afternoon classical music program broadcast from 1-4 p.m.   This position has a literary license to choose his or her own music, within general WUOT guidelines for classical music programming, and will be allowed up to five hours/week for program preparation.   While the part-time radio programmer/announcer is mostly an on-air position, he or she may also be called upon to provide content and participation on wuot.org

Duties include all board and M-F afternoon classical hosting duties during twice a year fund-drives and may be pre-recorded weekday holidays and administrative closings (and other occasions upon prior approval of management.)  Training and extensive classical music library provided.



Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in music or related field. Knowledge of classical music (including, but not limited to pronunciations, various composers and periods, etc.), ability to host/announce in a conversational and accessible tone, understanding of public radio and its culture, ability to learn digital broadcasting techniques and equipment, ability to work with a diverse and creative group of co-workers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in music or related field.  Preference will be given to those with at least some radio experience and technical knowledge of classical music.
