Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director, the Head Archery Coach is responsible for carrying out all activities necessary to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of the USA Archery's Collegiate Archery Program, and the College.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all Archery team activities.
  • Lead recruiting, instructing and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for the archery team.
  • Provide instruction to archery student-athletes on the fundamentals, details and strategies of the sport.
  • Responsible for adhering to all policies and regulations of the Athletic Director, Hocking College, and USA Archery's Collegiate Archery Program.
  • Responsible for registering all archery student athletes for all competitions with USA Archery and any other organization with whom the team may participate.
  • Lead the marketing and promotion of the archery team.
  • Counsel student athletes in sport participation, personal development and academics.
  • Assist in the monitoring of student-athletes academic progress, including arranging and monitoring weekly Study Table sessions adhering to the Athletics Study Table Policy.
  • Drive student athletes or other students to team activities and/or athletic events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Effectively teach fundamentals, position details and strategies of the sport during preparation and practice sessions.
  • Motivate teams to become successful.
  • Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the College community and the public.
  • This position will have practice hours 4-6 days a week during the season and intermittent recruiting in the offseason.

    • Player or coach experience in archery sports at the high school, college or professional level required.
    • Must have a good driving record and pass a background check.
