Position Summary:

Today's UC Irvine Stem Cell Research Center is a dynamic center encompassing a diverse array of interdisciplinary investigators that span the schools of Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Arts and Law. Our state-of-the-art, LEED Platinum certified research and clinical building houses 23 of our 50 center faculty members. Center faculty have obtained more than $170 million dollars in grant and foundation funds. Our research programs include a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored T32 training grant, state of the art shared equipment, research services programs and a seminar series.

Under the general supervision of the Sr. Finance Analyst in the Stem Cell Research Center, incumbent is responsible for the direct analysis and management of contracts and grants, clinical trial and general accounts administered through the Center. Major duties include financial management and forecasting, contracts and grants post award, clinical trial post-award, billing and invoicing, budget monitoring, account reconciliation, data reporting and monitoring. Pre-award and special projects will be assigned on an as needed basis.

Compensation Range:

Hourly Rate: $24.23 - $36.93

Required:

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems. BS with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making. Ability to function effectively as a member of a team. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.

Preferred:

Knowledge of CIRM policy and post-award Knowledge of Clinical Trial post award and familiarity with EPIC, Oncore, and other clinical systems

Special Conditions Preferred:

Must pass a background check. Ability to interpret and summarize complex financial information and narrative reports pertaining to such topics as budget development fiscal planning and reconciliation Demonstrated ability to employ effective problem solving techniques Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality of financial and personnel matters Ability to collect data and analyze data Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a complex workload in an environment with changing priorities Working knowledge of budget preparation, financial and administrative analysis. Knowledge of Kuali Financial System, PI report system and UC Path reports
